ASH GROVE - CHANUTE - LIQUIDS
CHEM-FUEL® K BLEND SUITABILITY GUIDELINES
ASH GROVE CEMENT COMPANY & CADENCE ENVIRONMENTAL ENERGY INC.
CHANUTE, KANSAS
These guidelines are designed to assist fuel managers in determining the suitability of Chem-Fuel K Blend for use as supplemental fuel at the Ash Grove Chanute, Kansas plant.
- All Chem-Fuel shipments are sampled, analyzed and tested on site using methods specified in the Chanute plants Waste Analysis Plan and Feed Stream Analysis Plan.
Suitability guidelines contain two types of criteria:
Requirements must be met without exception. Because requirements are based on specific regulatory limits, receiving facility personnel have no flexibility in their interpretation.
Management Guidelines are designed to provide guidance for processors. K Blend shipments that meet the management guidelines are considered suitable for use as supplemental fuel. Depending upon site-specific circumstances and with prior approval, individual shipments that do not conform to the management guidelines may also be acceptable, but will require additional management prior to use. These shipments may also be subject to a surcharge and may create unloading delays.
Please contact the Kiln Services Department (620) 431-4122, ext. 338 at least one business day before shipping any Chem-Fuel that may require management.

CHEM-FUEL® CLEAN AIR ACT SECTION 112(r) RESTRICTED CHEMICALS
Ash Grove conducts Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) analysis on pre-qualification waste stream samples and requalifications of each waste stream annually. The GC-MS provides Ash Grove with a measurement of 112(r) toxic and flammable chemicals present in the waste stream sample.
If a chemical on the 112(r) list of regulated chemicals is identified and its concentration is greater than 1%, a management decision will be made as to whether or not to accept the waste stream. Ash Grove must provide pre-shipment authorization to accept a waste stream that contains 112(r) regulated chemicals in quantities greater than 1%.
