The modern cement kilns of Buzzi Unicem USA offer the ideal environment for using the carbon energy found in waste. Most waste received is reduced to a uniform size then loaded into a hopper such as the one pictured on the right. The waste is then pneumatically moved up the preheater tower to a place where it is introduced to the kiln. Typical kilns use 100,000 tons or more of fuel each year. Now, much of it can be replaced with the carbon energy found in retail personal care and other carbon-containing wastes.
